Music
Michael Rigby grew up in Newcastle (NSW) where he started playing guitar in his teenage years with early influences included guitar greats Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimi Hendrix.
Aspirations to learn more about music and the art of playing guitar resulted in a relocation to Sydney to study with an amazing collection of musicians at the Australian Institute of Music. Time spent with Carl Orr, Guy Strazzullo and Ike Issacs opened Michael’s eyes to many styles and genres of music and the limitless possibilities of the guitar. In Sydney, Michael also had music theory and arranging lessons with Jackie Orszaczky, this period of learning provided the inspiration and practical skills which has led to the composition of a wide range of instrumental music for the guitar.
Michael has performed in thousands of live shows around the country and opened shows for many of Australia’s icons. In 2000 - 2001, Michael worked closely with Marcia Hines to write and record original music.
These days can be found playing in many of Adelaide’s popular live music venues in a variety of bands, solo at season launches for fellow wine makers or occasionally strolls over to our local coffee shop to play a few tunes.
